Mission Statement
Chummy’s mission is to provide children of all ages with volunteer opportunities so they can: 1) help others, and 2) experience the joy of giving back. Our projects benefit people and organizations in the Dane County area and beyond.
How Chummy Works
Chummy partners with a non-profit or charity in the Dane County area to organize an event (location, presentation, activity, etc.)
Chummy makes a donation to the nonprofit or charity partner to offset the “cost” of small volunteers, including supplies or presentation fees (not applicable for all projects)
Interested families sign up to participate at chummy.org (participation is free)
How Chummy is Funded
Chummy is a nonprofit organization and is privately funded. Joining Chummy is free and there are no membership fees. For some projects, families have the opportunity to bring in-kind donations (for example, cereal for the food pantry) - but this is always optional.
I’m Bethany! I started Chummy in 2022 after years of searching for volunteer opportunities for my own kids (and finding very few). I hoped that giving back in the community would encourage my children to think outside themselves and learn more about the wonderful organizations that serve those in need. We invited our friends to join us, and Chummy was born!
If you are interested helping organize and plan Chummy events, please reach out! I’d love to hear from you.
